Dean of Students Welcome

Dear Veteran or active military students:

It is a privilege and an honor to welcome you to Spring Hill College. We at Spring Hill are so very proud of the service and dedication you have shown on behalf of our country and we are excited at the opportunity to have you join our campus family.

I am Joe Deighton, the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students. As Dean of Students, I want to extend our student support services to assist you as you begin your educational journey with us. Our dedication to educational excellence, our commitment to serving the whole person, and our passionate faculty and staff stand ready to serve you and to welcome the unique talents and gifts you will bring to our institution. We also stand ready to help you transition from a life of serving our country to a life as a student on our campus. We already have a variety of excellent student services to help students with any concerns or issues that they face. We have also thought and implemented ways to improve these services so that they meet your particular needs as a returning military or active military student. Please see the below support areas for a brief description of the services provided and a link to the full website where all the details can be found.

Again, it is with great pride and pleasure that I welcome you to our institution. Please review the services listed below and the offices that may be able to help you with your transition and ongoing success on our campus. Feel free to contact my office if you have any questions or concerns….I am available at (251) 380-3023.

Sincerely,

Joe Deighton

Starting college or returning to college studies can be a difficult transitional time for any student, including those returning from military life. Spring Hill offers an intensive, two-day Preview Program designed to welcome all students to our campus and to help you begin to build the relationships needed to best support your educational journey. It is during this program that you can meet other students, be advised for classes, attend informational sessions on support services, and begin to feel like a true part of the Spring Hill College family. There are three Preview Program options available in the summer of 2009: June 18-19, June 22-23 and June 25-26. These Preview Programs are normally mandatory for all new, full-time traditional students to our campus. As a person coming from the armed forces or currently engaged in military service, an alternative Veterans Student Orientation will also be available in addition to, or in substitution of, our typical Preview Programs. Please consult with Margarita Perez, Associate Dean of Students and Preview Coordinator, in order to discuss the option best suited for your needs. تنزيل واتس اب

Information about Residence Life, Student Activities & Organizations, and the Wellness Center

Spring Hill College is fortunate to have a variety of beautiful, residential living environments for full-time traditional students. Usually, our campus population consists of students who are experiencing their first, “away-from-home” living environment. We so believe in the positive nature of the on-campus living environment, we require all traditional, full-time students to live on campus, unless they are living locally with their parents or have other special circumstances that may qualify them for an exemption from this policy. Veteran or active military students living on campus would be integrated throughout our residence hall environments. Our halls offer a vibrant, diverse, and supportive residential community.  ببجي لايت

Housing options for non-traditional students may be limited if traditional students are at full occupancy. The best way to know is to discuss your needs with our housing office at (251) 380 - 3026. Even if not living on campus, our campus environment is welcoming to both resident and commuter students…..all can benefit from our lively campus environment. سينمانا

A variety of activities and student organizations are open to all students. Our Campus Programming Board plans and implements a year long menu of events, performers, activities, artists, and cultural activities. Our intramural and club sport programs offers athletic opportunities even for those not participating in intercollegiate sports. Greek Life is another opportunity to get involved with one of our fraternity or sorority groups. One of the attractions of a college our size is the ability to begin a new organization or activity even if it doesn’t currently exist. We are looking forward to a group of new Veteran Students to help us start a Student Veteran Association group (SVA) as part of a national network of such groups that serve veteran students in particular. Please view the below website for insight into the many clubs and organizations that are available to all students. يلا شوت مباريات اليوم

A variety of academic support services are available through our Student Academic Services office located in the Lucey Administration Building. We realize that veteran students and/or active military students may have been away from college for awhile or possibly never attended college, and may, therefore, need some additional help in gearing up for new academic challenges. Helping such students with these challenges can occur through tutoring assistance and improved study skills. Specifically, the newly formed Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) located on the first floor of the Byrne Memorial Library coordinates tutoring in Writing and Mathematics across the curriculum.  Student Academic Services provides peer tutors in all other introductory core and lower-division courses. The best way to know is to consult with one of our professionals at the number listed below. تحميل متجر بلاي

The Student Academic Services office also offers our disabled students the ability to coordinate any needed accommodations for disabilities they may have. Our goal is to turn any disability into an ability to achieve all of one’s academic goals. Veteran and active military students can also be aided with potential accommodations for many disabilities that would otherwise pose as an impediment to their educational goals. As these issues are often very individualized in nature, please consult with our professional staff at the phone number listed below.
