The Student Organization & Leadership Awards are intended to honor and recognize the individuals and groups that have made a positive impact on the co-curricular life of the Spring Hill College campus community.  Each year, a nomination and selection process is held during the Spring Semester with winners being announced at the annual Student Leadership & Organization Awards in the Price LeBlanc Grand Hall in the Student Center.

Leader for Others Award : The Leader for Others Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to serving others and their community.  This individual has acted as “man/woman for others” and served as an exemplary role model for other students.  They have put aside self-interest, to selflessly engage themselves in generously serving their neighbors and peers, advocating for the needs of others, seeking to better their community and world.  The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

AMDG Award : Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. The AMDG award honors individuals or organizations that have given of their time, energy and selves for “the Greater Glory of God”.  This award recognizes significant contributions to the spiritual life of the campus and its students.  Through actions, personal commitment and service to others, this individual or group has sought to “shine the light of God’s love in our world”.  The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding Student Organization : The Outstanding Student Organization Award is awarded to a student organization that has devoted itself to advancing the purpose of its own mission and the mission of Spring Hill College.  The organization must show that it has acted as a positive force in the Spring Hill College community, serving as a model organization and demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence, leadership, personal development, community, diversity and service. Organizations may be nominated by their officers, members, advisors or other members of the campus community. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding New Organization : The Outstanding New Organization Award honors a student group that has been officially recognized or re-organized in the past two academic years.  The organization has made extraordinary strides in establishing itself on campus by promoting its mission and purpose and engaging itself in the community through programming and member development.  Organizations may be nominated by their officers, members, advisors or other members of the campus community. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding Student Organization President : The Outstanding Student Organization President Award has been created to honor a president of a recognized student organization who has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills during the current academic year.  This individual has shown a commitment to the mission and goals of the student organization and has served to move the organization and the SHC community forward through their actions and achievements.  The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding Organization Member of the Year : Each recognized club and organization is allowed to nominate one member to receive the Outstanding Organization Member of the Year Award. Each club and organization may determine the criteria in selecting their outstanding organization member of the year.

Outstanding Service Project : The Outstanding Service Project Award is awarded annually to an individual or organization that has contributed to the community by coordinating an exemplary service project. Through the project, this organization has actively engaged itself in the mission of the college and created positive change in the community and amongst their members.   Projects may be nominated by organization officers, members, advisors or other members of the campus community. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding Campus Program : The Outstanding Campus Program Award was created to recognize those individuals and organizations that organized and sponsored programs that have had a positive impact on the SHC community.  The award is designed to honor the organization which has conceived, planned and implemented a program or event that has proven to be of significant benefit to students and the campus community.   Eligible programs for this award are to have occurred during the Academic Year.  The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application

 

Commitment to Diversity : The Commitment to Diversity Award was created to recognize those individuals or organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to promoting awareness and education concerning diversity and multi-cultural issues.  This award recognizes excellence through advocacy, unique and effective programming and educational efforts. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding Greek Organization : The Outstanding Greek Organization Award is awarded annually to the Greek letter organization that has contributed to the campus community by serving as a model organization.  The organization excels in the following areas: scholarship, leadership, role in Greek community, service, integrity and commitment to the mission of the college.  Overall, this organization should act a positive force in the Spring Hill College community and be committed to on-going community service.  Chapters may be nominated by their officers, members, advisors or other members of the campus community. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Greek Man & Woman of the Year : The Greek Man & Woman of the Year Awards are awarded annually to a senior fraternity/sorority member who has exemplified the ideals of Greek Life and served as a model Greek leader.  They represent the pillars of Greek membership and serve as role models in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and sisterhood/brotherhood.  They have been actively involved in the Greek community at SHC and played a positive role in improving Greek Life on campus. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Greek New Member of the Year : The Greek New Member of the Year Award is awarded annually to a fraternity/sorority member who has joined a recognized chapter in the current academic year.  This individual should exemplify the pillars of Greek membership and have played a positive role within their chapter and new member class. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Outstanding Student Organization Advisor : The Outstanding Student Organization Advisor is awarded annually to a faculty or staff member who has gone above and beyond their job description and played a significant advisory role to a student organization.  This individual has been exemplary in their assistance to the organization, played an active role in their activities and programs and worked diligently to provide an educational experience for its individual organization members.  Advisors may be nominated by organization officers, members, advisors or other members of the campus community. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.

 

Cura Personalis : The Cura Personalis Award is awarded to SHC faculty or staff members who have made extraordinary contributions to the lives of students at SHC by going above and beyond their campus role.  This individual has given their time, energy and effort to ensuring that a thriving campus life is available to students both in and out of the classroom.  They have made a significant contribution to the education of mind, body and spirit through co-curricular involvements with students. The award recipient will be selected by a committee based on information provided in the nomination application.
