Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Pi Rho chapter was chartered on the campus of Spring Hill College in 1992.

Pi Rho was founded when four young women contacted Gale Conega. The group worked diligently until they captured the attention of Carolyn Wilson, at the time the president of the Delta Theta Omega Chapter. Developmental meetings began but despite growing interests there were not enough to form a chapter. In time however, the four grew to thirteen and on April 26, 1992 these thirteen ladies were initiated.
